OverviewJoin to apply for the Volunteer Driver's Assistant role at St Leonard's Hospice. Our Volunteer Driver’s Assistant role provides a key service to our Retail Team, ensuring smooth running of the Retail logistics service and raising vital funds for St Leonard’s Hospice through its collection service and stock movement system.When am I needed? Our van service runs Monday to Saturday, from 8am to 4pm. We’re looking for volunteers to support the full duration of each shift. Shifts are assigned on a flexible, ad hoc basis to suit your availability, and opportunities are regularly available throughout the month.ResponsibilitiesAssisting the driver to fulfil their day-to-day dutiesLifting and moving furniture and donated goodsPacking and loading/unloading the vanDelivery of goods to customersRemove and safely dispose of waste materialAssisting the driver with vehicle safety checksNote: this is a physically active role with a significant amount of manual handling, including moving shop stock items, heavy donation bags, and light pieces of furniture. Volunteers will be supervised by the Retail Drivers and the Retail Team. The Volunteer Services Team will guide you through the application and induction process and be your point of contact for general enquiries about volunteering.TrainingVolunteers are required to complete mandatory training modules, usually delivered online. Additional training may be delivered as needed via e-learning, video links or face-to-face sessions.
