Overview of the role The role of the Team Leader is to provide support and guidance to a team of social care workers, whilst making sure you always provide the highest level of care and leadby example. You will also liaise with the seniors in the home reporting any matters of concern.You must have experience in the care sector and have the willingness to learn and expand on your previous knowledge. Key duties Taking the lead withsupporting adults with learning disabilities and complex needs in a residential care environment Supervising a team and assisting withthe overall management of the home Liaising with managers and other shift leaders Executing any tasks allocatedin a professional, timely and accuratemanner Supervisingand sharingmealtimes with residents to encourage a positive attitude towards food and dining Assisting residents in their daily activitieswhether this be in or away from the home Using your initiative when supporting residents during their activities and with day-to-day tasks Personal attributes Being patient, reliable, flexible, a team player anda good communicator are key characteristics of a successful Team Leader. Redlands House is a large, detached home in Eastleigh, close to the town centre, five miles from Southampton. The home supports up to eight men and women of various ages with severe learning disabilities, autism and associated complex needs. People at the home have different levels of communication: some use Makaton, and others communicate with sounds, facial and body expressions and using objects of reference. Redlands has its own Activity Coordinator who creates a structured activity programme to enable ongoing personal development through a range of individual and group activities. There is transport for visits to leisure, recreational and educational activities in the community.
