Job Summary Band 5 nurse you are expected to provide family‑centred developmentally appropriate care to preterm and unwell babies. You will work towards achieving your qualification in the specialty of the nursing care of neonates, manage the care of special care, high‑dependency and stabilisation and transfer of babies requiring intensive care treatment. You will complete your Newborn Life Support training and Family and Infant Neurodevelopment Education (FINE) training. Expectation is to support students on the ward and liaise effectively with the multidisciplinary team. Main duties of the job You will manage and provide all aspects of patient care, assessing care needs, developing, implementing and evaluating programmes of care for the babies and their families. Liaise effectively with the multidisciplinary team, uphold the Trust’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy, and the NMC code of conduct, including record‑keeping. Work alongside the nurse in charge, the MDT and the Northern Neonatal Network team to make the best decisions for babies and families. Maintain infection prevention and control guidelines, support nurse change to ensure a safe environment, keep knowledge and competency of neonatal equipment, and advocate for babies and families.
