The Portchester Practice is seeking two motivated, adaptable and patient-focused Receptionists to join our busy front-of-house team. These roles are vital in supporting the smooth delivery of our services and ensuring patients can access the care they need.As part of our Reception team, you will be the first point of contact for patients both in person and by telephone. Your responsibilities will include managing patient enquiries, booking appointments, processing repeat prescription requests, handling administrative tasks and supporting the wider clinical and administrative teams.We are looking for individuals who can stay calm under pressure, communicate clearly and provide a high standard of service to our diverse patient population. Strong IT skills, attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively are essential. Total 22.5 hoursMain duties of the jobAct as the first point of contact for patients, both in person and by telephoneHandle patient enquiries promptly, professionally and with sensitivityBook, amend and cancel appointments using the clinical systemProcess repeat prescription requests in line with practice protocolsManage incoming and outgoing communications, including emails, letters and test resultsSupport the clinical team by preparing notes, updating records and carrying out administrative tasksRegister new patients and update patient details accuratelyMaintain the reception area to ensure a welcoming and organised environmentSignpost patients to appropriate services and support where requiredFollow confidentiality, safeguarding and data protection requirements at all timesContribute to the wider administrative workload to support the smooth running of the practiceParticipate in team meetings, training sessions and service improvement activitiesAbout usThe Portchester Practice is a well-established, friendly and forward-thinking GP surgery serving a diverse local community.
