Senior Neighbourhood Operative/Sweeper

Contract Type: Permanent Working Hours: Average of 37 hours per week on a rota basis Location: Across Colchester Borough Face to face interviews to be confirmed An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and resourceful individual to join our highly successful Neighbourhood team, working at Colchester City Council. The Senior Neighbourhood Operative / Sweeper will operate a mechanical Sweeper, ensuring that roads and pathways of Colchester are maintained in a clean state. The preferred candidate will need to walk long distances, stand for significant periods of time and be able to lift heavy items, be resourceful, enthusiastic, and have a passion for making a difference in Colchester for our residents. Who you are: You can walk long distances, stand for significant periods of time and lift heavy items, use a Smart Phone and hold a full Large Goods Vehicles (LGV) Driving Licence with a valid Drivers Qualification Card (DVQ). You embrace working both early morning and weekend shifts as required by the rota of 1 in 6. You are resourceful and can adapt and find new solutions to problems. You are self-motivated, we need people with a ‘See it, Solve it’ attitude who can spot what is needed and get the job done. You understand what community is and are enthusiastic about actively working closely with the people of Colchester. You strive for excellence in everything you do and have a passion for improving the quality of cleanliness of our streets for the residents of Colchester.
