Experienced Staff Nurses needed to start in Medicine The closing date is 01 December 2025 We will have permanent and fixed term staff nurse vacancies available at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust starting in the Acute & General Medicine Directorate. In Acute & General Medicine we like to be prepared so we are preparing for winter when we increase our bed base to meet demand by opening a winter ward. Our current acute medicine nurses will be moving to cover this but we will need excellent committed nurses with a love of the elderly, stroke or infectious diseases to come and work in our established wards. These positions will start just after Xmas/New year so you will need to be available to start as soon as possible in January 2026. Once Spring arrives next year, we won't be putting you away with the Xmas decorations, for the majority, we would like to keep you within the directorate, develop you and help you on your way to your chosen career path because the experience you gain in medicine is invaluable to any role in the future. You could join a rotation or settle permanently, alternatively there is an internal transfer policy. Applying for a job If you are an Internationally Educated Nurse, we are only able to shortlist you if you have and post-NMC registration experience working as a Staff Nurse in an acute hospital setting in the NHS. Proposed Interview Date: Thursday 11 December 2025 NB- virtual interviews are not an option as we like to meet our candidates in person on the day. Main duties of the job The Acute & General Medicine Directorate is a great career choice whether you plan to utilise experience gained to enrich your portfolio to move on to other specialities/roles or even better - if you decide to make this hugely rewarding area of nursing your ultimate career choice - it takes a very special person. We are particularly interested in nurses who would be happy to stay within medicine at the end of the winter period or there will be opportunities in other specialities. For a small number this would be offered as a fixed term opportunity. We have a very committed Practice Development team that offers fantastic development opportunities in the form of study days and the Acutely Ill Adult Work-based learning Qualification in Specialism course which is really well evaluated. In AGM we support and develop our band 5s ready for a band 6 role, where we have the AGM Band 6 Leadership Programme that aims to grow and develop our band 6s into the Ward Sisters & Charge Nurses of the future. There are also secondment opportunities in Medicine which expose our staff to different roles and encourage career progression.
