Essential Requirements Recent experience as a SENCO National Award for SEN Co-ordination Experience working with students aged 11–18 Availability to start January 2026 Role Purpose Under the direction of the Headteacher, the SENCO will: Lead SEND provision across the school Oversee the SEND policy and targeted support plans Provide professional guidance to staff and work closely with parents and external agencies Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership Lead development and implementation of SEND policy Monitor quality of SEND provision and evaluate impact of funding Ensure all SEND-related policies and reports are up to date SEND Operations Maintain the SEND register and provision map Advise staff on the graduated approach to SEND support Coordinate and monitor interventions and review provision termly Analyse assessment and progress data for SEND students Access Arrangements (EAA) Audit EAA records, identify students requiring assessment and sign off decisions Liaise with external agencies and attend annual JCQ training Student Support Identify needs, coordinate support and secure external services Lead annual EHCP reviews Support student transition and promote inclusion across school life Leadership & Line Management Report to SLT and Governors on SEND provision Line manage Assistant SENCO and LSAs Lead staff training and share specialist guidance Work with pastoral and safeguarding teams on student needs The establishment is committed to safeguarding, ensuring the safety and welfare of young people.
