Salary: A GBP 26395.20 pa Hours: Monday to Friday 08:00 – 16:30 (40 hours per week) Employment type: Permanent, Full time Job Overview We are looking for an enthusiastic caring person to become our next Field Service Engineer. Our Ipswich Approved Repair Service supports our NHS Wheelchair service in the distribution and maintenance of chairs across the whole of Suffolk. Ross Care, part of the Medux, works in partnership with the NHS to supply the necessary equipment and aids that help supporting schools, care homes, hospitals and patients within their homes on a daily basis. Job Purpose As a company to help us achieve the agreed contractual standard of service required. By completing initial training in the workshop reconditioning wheelchair equipment to gain essential product knowledge and support your development. On completion of initial training this will enable you to work out in the field delivering, collecting, repairing, and servicing wheelchairs. Responsibilities Delivering and collecting wheelchairs to and from service users' homes and NHS departments, ensuring the Company Infection Control Policy is followed. Servicing and repairing wheelchairs in the field aiming for a first‑time fix whenever possible. Read and complete all paperwork/scan jobs, detailing parts used and actions taken to enable accurate database updates. Use supplied PPE as instructed. When rostered, undertake out‑of‑hours responsibility. Observe regulations covering the driving and use of the Company vehicle on public highways and comply with Health & Safety at Work Act. Keep the vehicle tidy and ensure parts stock is replenished each day. Perform weekly vehicle safety check and van check sheet. Maintain a professional customer service attitude, wear uniform and identification badge, and keep uniform clean. Prioritise and organise workload, referring to Line Manager as appropriate. Maintain safe keeping of all tools and equipment provided by the Company as per handbook. Qualifications Full UK driving licence. Successful enhanced DBS check. General workshop knowledge. Basic electrical knowledge including 12 V/24 V DC systems. Ability to move and handle loads and equipment safely. Experience of face‑to‑face customer contact. Previous delivery driver experience. Awareness and understanding of people with disabilities. Flexible approach to working conditions and environment change. Initiative within role boundaries. Use mobile phone to relay photographs. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to relay clear instructions to clients. Awareness of hand‑held scanners. Physical Demands Moving and handling equipment and accessories.
