This role is pivotal in leading and enhancing our clinical pharmacy services within the Medicines and Emergency Care (MEC) Division, with a special focus on cardiology. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership: Manage and support the team of pharmacists within the medical cluster. Clinical Support: Guide pharmacists in the delivery of clinical pharmacy services in cardiology areas. Service Development: Lead the development of the clinical pharmacy service for the MEC Division, aligning with the objectives set by the Divisional Lead Pharmacist, especially in cardiology. Deputizing: Act as a deputy for the Divisional Lead Pharmacist when required. Main Duties of the Job Clinical Commitment: Provide high-level clinical pharmacy services to cardiology wards and practice as a non-medical prescriber. Patient Clinics: Conduct clinics throughout the region to support patients with hyperlipidaemia and heart failure. Pharmacy Team Leadership: Ensure the safe, effective, and cost-efficient use of medicines, considering national and corporate priorities. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work with senior pharmacists within MEC to develop joint priorities and protocols. Medication Management: Address complex medication issues, advising healthcare staff on prescription reviews, medicines reconciliation, and discharge planning. Evidence-Based Practice: Promote evidence-based treatments in both primary and secondary care, developing and implementing guidelines for high-quality and cost-effective prescribing. Integrated Service Delivery: Collaborate with senior pharmacists and the wider workforce to provide a cohesive pharmacy service. Management Support: Provide line management for band 7 and band 6 pharmacists, handling personnel procedures such as sickness reviews and disciplinary matters.
