We are looking for a hardworking, friendly and skilled professional who can offer a minimum of 6 sessions per week. They will work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the GMS contract. The post holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, and maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team. Core Responsibilities Take responsibility for whole practice patient care and maintain a high quality service. Make autonomous clinical decisions for presenting problems, both self‑referenced and referred from other health care workers. Assess health needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems; screen for disease risk factors and early signs of illness. Develop care plans in accordance with current practice disease‑management protocols. Provide counselling, health education and patient‑centred communication. Admit, discharge and refer patients appropriately. Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards. Collect data for audit purposes, compile and issue computer‑generated acute and repeat prescriptions, prescribing in line with the practice formulary or generically where clinically appropriate. Perform all normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP in primary care. Other Responsibilities Within the Organisation Adhere to all relevant practice policies and guidelines, including prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, and health and safety. Commit to continuous learning and audit to ensure evidence‑based best practice. Contribute to evaluation, audit and clinical standard setting. Participate in the development of computer‑based patient records and Read‑coding patient data. Attend training and events organised by the practice or other agencies. Confidentiality Respect patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion and care. Maintain confidentiality of patient and practice information in all circumstances. Disclose information only to authorised persons in line with practice policies. Health & Safety Use personal security systems in workplace according to practice guidelines. Identify and mitigate risks associated with work activities. Use infection control procedures and maintain safe, tidy work areas. Report potential risks. Recognise alternative communication needs and respond accordingly. Person Specification Experience (Essential) NHS experience. Strong clinical skills managing a wide range of medical conditions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Effective multidisciplinary team collaboration. Experience in managing chronic conditions and acute presentations. Familiarity with clinical systems and digital tools for patient management. Qualifications (Essential) Full GMC registration with license to practice. Qualified GP. Inclusion on NHS Performers List. MRCGP or equivalent qualification. Evidence of ongoing professional development. Personal Attributes (Essential) Empathetic, patient‑centred approach to care. Organised with excellent time‑management skills. Commitment to continuous improvement and development. Ability to work autonomously and make sound clinical decisions under pressure.
