Consultant Psychiatrist – Older Adult Inpatient, Barrow Posted 3 days ago – apply now to be among the first 25 applicants. Job Summary We are seeking a substantive Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Older Adult Inpatient team in the beautiful town of Barrow in Furness. The full‑time post (10 PA) is based at Ramsay Ward within the Dane Garth Unit in Furness General Hospital. The post holder will participate in the Consultant On Call rota (additional remuneration 0.5 PA + 5% supplement) and will work with a multidisciplinary team that includes nurse consultants, psychologists, clinical leads, community mental health nurses, occupational therapists, HCAs and trainee advanced clinical practitioners. Full GMC registration is required, and you must be on the Specialist Register or be eligible to join within six months of the interview date. Applicants must also hold Section 12 approval at the time of appointment and be, or be eligible to obtain, Approved Clinician Status. Key responsibilities Provide comprehensive psychiatric care to older adults admitted to Ramsay Ward. Participate in the consultant on‑call rota. Lead multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to patient care plans. Maintain peer group engagement and monthly clinical reviews. Support clinical supervision and contribute to educational activities. Qualifications MBBS or equivalent. Full GMC registration and licence to practise. On the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months. Section 12 approval or within 3 months. Approved Clinician (AC) status or within 3 months. Experience Knowledge, skills and experience appropriate to an older‑adult inpatient psychiatry role.
