SSE plc – Senior Contract Manager Location: Reading / Thames Valley / Wiltshire / Hampshire, England, United Kingdom Salary: £58,100 – £87,100 + performance‑related bonus + a range of other benefits Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time Overview Join the Procurement and Commercial (P&C) team supporting the SSEN Large Capital Delivery Directorate to manage the tender process and commercial support for large capital projects. Responsibilities Manage the tender process for capital projects from invitation to tender through to contract award and commercial management of the delivery phase, including managing commercial staff. Procure essential work scopes, ensuring lowest cost of ownership and best value, covering all commercial, business and legal project risks and negotiating terms and conditions. Develop and implement Procurement and Commercial strategies in line with Capital Projects Governance requirements. Provide cost estimating, reporting and forecasting throughout the lifecycle of projects. Support the Head of Procurement and Commercial and the Procurement and Commercial Manager in delivering large construction projects, including accurate forecasting, contractor relationship management and strategic thinking at a portfolio level. Qualifications A Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent, and professional membership or working towards membership of a relevant body such as RICS or CICES. Knowledge of the Utilities Contract Regulations and Procurement Act 23. Experience in commercial governance for large capital projects with commercial, contract or cost experience and contract drafting and negotiation based on the NEC Suite. Extensive experience in project cost management from estimating and forecasting to budget management. Excellent communication, presentation, commercial acumen and a continuous improvement mindset.
