The Quality Manager will manage the compliance monitoring function, approvals, and systems at Muirhead Avionics, while maintaining rigorous compliance with all industry standard regulations and procedures. The role includes responsibilities for auditing, fostering a positive Just Safety culture, and addressing all aspects of compliance within the current management systems. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for compliance management of the organisation against regulatory approvals (EN 9110, EN 9120, ISO 17025, UK CAA, EASA Part‑145 & FAR 145) and overall responsibility for the auditing function. Management of the technical data process used by the organisation. Compliance Monitoring Ensure that the activities of the organisation are monitored for compliance with applicable requirements and any additional requirements established by the organisation. Ensure that outsourced maintenance conforms to contract or work order requirements. Monitor amendments to the organisation’s procedures and standard practices to remain compliant with Part‑145 and other regulatory guidance. Issue, renew or cancel Part‑145 certification for staff and support staff, and authorise individuals appropriately. Document processes, procedures, local instructions, and forms for the organisation. Ensure adherence to all industry quality regulations. Ensure employees possess the required training and competence for their role. Maintain the safety management system (SMS) in compliance with Part‑145, chair the safety action group. Auditing Manage and maintain an independent audit system to monitor compliance with Part‑145, EN 9110, EN 9120 and ISO 17025. Implement and maintain an audit plan aligned with approval needs. Coordinate external audits from customers, OEMs, certification bodies and authorities. Ensure audit findings are closed out timely. Feed audit findings into recurrent training and QMS documentation processes. Experience Minimum five years relevant experience in aviation maintenance or airworthiness management, with at least two years in the aviation industry in an appropriate position. Knowledge of Safety Management Systems (optional). Understanding of QMS systems with proven ability to review, update and communicate changes to processes and procedures. Experience with EN 9110 and ISO 9001. Internal auditing experience. Problem‑solving and root‑cause investigation techniques. Qualifications Relevant engineering or technical degree or engineering qualification (optional). Safety training, including human factors (optional). Lead Auditor certification (required). Root Cause Analysis qualification (required). Knowledge of hazard identification and risk management (optional). Knowledge of UK CAA/EASA 145 Regulations (required). Knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS) (optional). Competencies Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Ability to work well in multidisciplinary, cross‑functional teams. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build close‑knit relationships with outside agencies. Strong analytical, administrative, and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail. Ability to influence staff. Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and multitask. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Well‑organised and self‑motivated.
