Blue Light Card is expanding rapidly in the UK and Australia, and we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Engineering Manager to join our Technology department. You’ll have experience working as an engineering manager in a high‑performing, product‑led agile organisation with multiple teams. You’ll lead one of our engineering teams, championing agile practices, delivering high‑quality solutions, and managing technical operations, to ensure your team achieves the best outcomes for our members. What You’ll Do Guide and motivate a high‑performing team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and integrity through coaching and support. Work with Product and Design to plan and deliver work, participating in sprint planning, retrospectives, and incident resolution. Ensure Operational Excellence by monitoring production components with Platform Engineering and addressing issues swiftly, meeting non‑functional requirements. Implement and champion agile methodologies and best practices, supporting their scaling across Engineering, Product, and Design. Foster a quality‑first mindset within the team, ensuring everyone follows agreed‑upon standards. Support technical design solutions that align with architectural standards, providing technical coaching and encouraging innovative ways of working. Engage with stakeholders to keep the team’s voice heard and aligned with business interests, maintaining a humble and positive attitude. Help the team understand and work toward business goals, fostering a shared sense of purpose and dedication while remaining flexible and ready to tackle various tasks each day. What You’ll Bring Experience as an Engineering Manager with a track record of successfully leading teams of at least four individuals. Substantial experience conducting regular one‑on‑one meetings, providing coaching, constructive feedback, and prioritising the well‑being and development of team members. Extensive experience with agile methodologies, overseeing practices and ceremonies to ensure high‑quality delivery and smooth task management. Proven ability to deliver scalable technical solutions, emphasizing best practices and innovative approaches using AWS and TypeScript. Ability to keep the team’s work in progress on track, addressing issues promptly in collaboration with Platform Engineering to maintain smooth operations. Experience helping the team align with business goals, fostering a shared sense of purpose and flexibility to adapt to changing environments. Experience guiding the team to implement technical solutions that meet all requirements and align with architectural standards, contributing to the technical roadmap.
