Our client is a well-established UK food manufacturer operating one of the most advanced production facilities in the industry. They are now seeking a skilled and motivated Site Services Engineer to join their Engineering team at their Wisbech site.

This is a key role within the Site Engineering function, ensuring the continuous operation of essential utilities including effluent treatment, steam generation, and general site services to support efficient and compliant food manufacturing operations.

The role includes responsibility for all non-machinery repairs across the factory facilities, including boilers, electrics, utilities, and general site services, and requires a BOAS-trained engineer experienced in steam plant operations and site infrastructure maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

Safety, Quality & Compliance

Strictly adhere to all Health & Safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout and Permit to Work systems.
Ensure all work complies with statutory, food safety, and environmental standards (GMP, HACCP, Environmental Consent).
Complete and act upon risk assessments to promote a safe working environment.
Support a proactive safety culture, identifying hazards and implementing corrective actions.
Maintain the site's effluent treatment and steam generation systems in line with environmental and regulatory requirements.Engineering & Operations

Operate and maintain the Effluent Treatment Plant, Steam Raising Plant, and other key utilities.
Ensure an uninterrupted supply of steam, air, water, and other utilities to the manufacturing areas.
Conduct planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and respond to breakdowns efficiently, owning tasks through to completion.
Maintain accurate engineering records, ensuring root cause fixes are implemented and documented.
Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering teams to achieve operational targets.
Support general building services, yard areas, and Energy Centre maintenance as required.Continuous Improvement

Identify and implement improvements to enhance reliability, efficiency, and compliance.
Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives, driving reductions in downtime, waste, and energy usage.
Contribute to developing proactive maintenance strategies and asset care plans in line with group objectives.Communication & Collaboration

Provide clear and detailed handovers between shifts.
Liaise with internal teams and external contractors to ensure timely and compliant maintenance activities.
Work closely with the Engineering Stores team to ensure parts and materials are available when required.
Share technical knowledge and support the development of less experienced team members.What We're Looking For

Essential:

Time-served Engineering apprenticeship (Mechanical, Electrical, or Multi-Skilled).
Proven experience in a fast-paced FMCG or food manufacturing environment.
Minimum of 5 years' hands-on experience in site services or utilities maintenance.
Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills.
Experience maintaining steam boilers, effluent systems, pneumatics, and water treatment systems.
Sound understanding of H&S and environmental compliance requirements.
Confident in reading engineering drawings and technical manuals.
Computer literate with experience in CMMS systems (preferably SAP).Desirable:

Food Safety qualification.
Knowledge of Legionella control and water quality management.
Familiarity with PLC systems and SCADA.
Confined space awareness or training.
Health & Safety qualification (IOSH/NEBOSH).Behavioural Competencies
