An exciting opportunity to join a cutting-edge energy storage company revolutionising the future of sustainable energy solutions. Due to recent success within their research team, they are recruiting a driven Senior Scientist, focusing on electrode material selection, optimisation, and scale-up for groundbreaking energy storage technologies.

As a key member of the Research Group, you will contribute to developing and advancing innovative energy storage solutions.

Senior Scientist Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with Project Leads to design, plan, and execute R&D projects targeting performance and scalability improvements in energy storage materials.
  2. Investigate and develop advanced solutions to enhance the performance of energy storage cells, pushing the boundaries of current technologies.
  3. Lead innovation efforts to adapt and improve current technologies for application in large-scale commercial products.
  4. Support the growth of electrolyte and materials research, fostering cross-functional collaboration within the company.
  5. Plan and execute advanced research projects to optimise materials for energy storage applications.
  6. Partner with Project Leads and the Research Group Lead to craft impactful R&D initiatives.
  7. Develop and refine existing technology for deployment in commercial products.
  8. Conduct regular testing and analysis of materials using advanced electrochemical techniques and instrumentation.
  9. Prepare and deliver comprehensive reports and presentations tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  10. Maintain a strong safety culture, ensuring proper use and upkeep of equipment.
  11. Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams, contributing to a culture of innovation and shared knowledge.
Senior Scientist Requirements
  1. PhD in Electrochemistry, Material Science, Energy Technologies, or a related field.
  2. 1–2 years of industrial (or post-doc) experience in R&D or a related capacity.
  3. Expertise in electrochemical cell design (batteries, supercapacitors), component interactions, and testing methodologies.
  4. Proven innovation skills in electrochemistry or electrode material science.
  5. Practical experience in the synthesis and characterisation of carbon-based electrode materials.
  6. Strong understanding of experimental design and physical characterisation techniques.
  7. Ability to analyse complex data rigorously and communicate findings effectively to diverse stakeholders.
  8. Team leadership experience with the ability to motivate and manage researchers.
  9. Passion for renewable energy and energy storage innovation.
  10. High attention to detail, adaptability, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
