Ward Leader – Adult Acute Care (Dementia) Job Summary We are looking for an existing or aspiring Ward Leader to lead and manage our acute care of the elderly ward specializing in high quality dementia care. The role requires flexibility, resilience, and forward thinking and involves working closely with a Clinical Matron linked directly to the Ward. Full time: 37.5 hours per week (days, nights, bank holidays & weekends). Main responsibilities Lead a multi‑disciplinary team to deliver excellent clinical and emotional care to support the ward’s inpatients. Take overall clinical and managerial responsibility for the Ward. Ensure high standards of clinical care for older people in the acute hospital. Work effectively under pressure in a complex, changing environment. Prioritise demanding workloads to meet deadlines. Support appropriate ward staffing, safe staffing, and senior cover for 24 h. Develop and implement teamwork and leadership practices. Qualifications & Experience Relevant professional/clinical qualification (RN and/or RM /or HCPC). Educated to degree level or equivalent experience. Proven experience managing a care delivery team, ideally multi‑professional. Experience in dementia and care of older person (advantage). Leadership skills and experience of change management. Experience working in an acute hospital setting. Ability to handle competing priorities and deliver under pressure. Desirable Experience at senior Band 6/7 level. Certifications in mentorship/education or teaching or specialist post‑registration certificate. Willingness to undertake professional development. Salary & Contract Salary: £47,810 to £54,710 per year pro rata (Band 7, Agenda for Change). Contract: Permanent. Working pattern: Full‑time.
