NHS 111 Health Advisor Part Time – Bicester Join the South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust in Bicester to support people across the region with urgent health advice. This role is office‑based, not remote, and requires the resilience to manage high‑pressure situations. Overview The Position involves handling a wide variety of calls including mental health crises, emergencies such as strokes or heart attacks, and routine health enquiries. You will use NHS Pathways to assess the needs of callers and provide the best possible care. Job Responsibilities Answer and assess a variety of health‑related phone calls in a calm, clear manner. Use NHS Pathways and other clinical tools to determine appropriate responses and referrals. Maintain accurate records on electronic systems and comply with service protocols. Demonstrate empathy and assertiveness while supporting callers who may be distressed. Participate in a full six‑week training programme before working with patients. Essential Requirements Good all‑round education or equivalent experience (e.g., 2 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English). Age over 18 years (for safeguarding purposes). Experience in customer or patient‑services environments. Proficient in using computerised systems and telephone communication. A willingness to work part‑time shifts on a rota basis. Desirable Requirements NHS Pathways training. NVQ 2/3 in Customer Services or equivalent. Experience in a call‑centre environment. Knowledge of the operational area and of first aid or anatomy. Previous voluntary or health‑sector experience. Recruitment Process Online application – please complete the form, explaining how you meet the essential and desirable criteria. Interview – a virtual conversation with an NHS 111 Health Advisor Call Handler. Salary & Working Pattern £24,937 to £26,598 per annum (pro‑rated for part‑time). This includes time‑plus in unsocial hours (35% for Saturday 8pm‑6am, 69% for Sunday and public holidays) and a full NHS pension contribution.
