South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of emergency, urgent care and non-emergency healthcare services, along with commercial logistics services.
The Trust delivers most of these services to the populations of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire as well as non-emergency patient transport services in Surrey and Sussex.
We serve a population of over 7 million and answer over 500,000 urgent calls a year. We employ 4,551 staff who, together with over 1,100 volunteers, enable us to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
As a 111 Health Advisor, you will take a variety of incoming calls from patients, providing them with an appropriate response to urgent healthcare needs within a timeframe. This could range from booking a GP appointment, advising them to attend an out of hour’s service or even dispatching an ambulance. No two calls are the same.
This is a challenging, busy, and rewarding job and every day you will be making an impact on other people’s lives. This is an office-based role and you will be working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
We provide comprehensive training to prepare you for the role and maintain ongoing support for all our 111 Health Advisors, ensuring they have knowledge, skills and support they need to provide the best care to our patients.
Training is a mixture of in the classroom and in the call centre. You must be able to commit to a 6-week, full time training programme regardless of contracted hours and the training programme is fully paid. The training covers internal systems, NHS pathways assessments and one to one coaching and mentoring on live calls. Day and evening training times are available.
2. Assessment session - an online assessment session gauging your listening and understanding skills, critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills. You will need to have access to a webcam and a laptop or PC to do the assessments (you will need to use a keyboard).
3. Interview - an online interview with a 111 Health Advisor Call Handler from the ambulance service, discussing your skills, experience and providing an opportunity for you to find out more about the role.
Please be advised that South Central Ambulance Service reserves the right to close this campaign earlier than the advertised closing date.
