An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Theatre Support Worker to join the team working in theatres. Responsibilities Assisting the surgical team to provide a quality service. Assisting the surgical team to deliver safe patient care. Supporting the surgical team in the preparation of sterile and non‑sterile equipment. Maintaining a clean and tidy environment throughout theatres. Maintaining good stock levels. Working as part of the team to maintain good working relationships. Communicating well both verbally and written. Working under supervision. Providing and receiving routine information. Providing information to enable the effectiveness of care to be evaluated. Reporting any concerns regarding patient care. Maintaining confidentiality. Supervised by the trained nurse, record care. Ensuring infection control standards are maintained by all members of the MDT. Maintaining theatres clean and tidy all the time. Working as part of weekend and on‑call schedule. Under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse, participate in the delivery of planned programs of care. Assisting in the receiving of patients. Assisting in the collection of patients from the ward. Assisting with checking and preparation of instruments and equipment. Unpacking and recording arrival of equipment. Supplying the surgical team with items as instructed. Assisting the scrub team in gowning and gloving. Counting swabs with a registered nurse. Assisting in correctly dispatching specimens as instructed. Being aware of competence and asking for assistance as required. Responding appropriately to urgent and emergency situations. Qualifications Demonstrate a good verbal and written command of English, excellent communication/interpersonal skills. Reasonable level of numeracy equivalent to GCSE. Ability to work under supervision. Completion of the Care Certificate qualification in peri‑operative care (expected). Good understanding of infection control standards. Ability to work flexible hours; join weekend and night rotations after competence training.
