Home Fire Safety Visit (HFSV) Technician Join to apply for the Home Fire Safety Visit (HFSV) Technician role at Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service. The position is temporary until 31 March 2026 and involves 37 hours per week at the Northern Service Delivery Group, Sandyford Fire Station. Salary: Grade 5 (£28,598 - £31,022) Hours: 37 hours per week – flexible working scheme available. Duration: Temporary until 31/03/26. Location: Northern Service Delivery Group (NSDG), Sandyford Fire Station. About the role Deliver Home Fire Safety Visits (HFSV’s) and provide general home fire safety advice. Fit smoke alarms and supplementary equipment where required, supporting residents to reduce fire risk. Duties include: Carry out Home Fire Safety Visits and support joint visits as required in accordance with SFRS policies. Give advice and guidance to support better health & safety for homeowners and tenants during the HFSV visit – highlight potential fire, health and generic hazards and offer preventative action. Provide health, safety, and wellbeing information and signpost to Community Safety Officers as required. Fit appropriate equipment including assisted technology and detection alarms, based on need, providing a direct intervention to the occupier. Identify vulnerability factors of occupiers (e.g., sensory impairment) and signpost accordingly. Carry out administrative functions in accordance with SFRS policies. Maintain appropriate levels of required stock. Drive an SFRS vehicle to appointments and undertake general vehicle maintenance. Maintain tools and equipment to a satisfactory standard. Maintain knowledge and awareness of developments within the prevention arena as required by the role. Perform any other duties as determined by CPP and commensurate with the grade. Person specification Essential Experience of working alone efficiently and using initiative in order to meet deadlines. Skills, ability and personal qualities Good communication and interpersonal skills. Good IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook. Ability to process new information quickly. Attention to detail in all aspects of the role. Good problem‑solving skills. Prepared to undertake training for the role and develop self as required. Full driving licence.
