Role Overview We are seeking a dynamic and effective physiotherapy profession, leading medical care for Academy players (U9–U21), this role oversees injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation. Managing a team of medical professionals, it ensures compliance, player well-being, and performance monitoring while collaborating with coaches and staff to optimise athlete development. Roles and Responsibilities Oversee all medical, health related matters pertaining to all Academy Players. To assist in the coordination and liaison with the Drug testing authorities. To ensure player compliance and adherence to testing protocols. (cat 2 requirement) To assist with the delivery across the PDP including match days with the U21s. To ensure that an appropriately qualified physiotherapist or Sport Rehabilitator / Therapist shall be present at all coaching and matches taking place in the Academy. To ensure that details of all injuries suffered by Academy Players and of rehabilitation are recorded in order that an internal audit of injury and rehabilitation may be maintained. To record the progress and development of each Academy Player under the Sports Science and Medicine Programme in the Performance Review and Performance Clock. To coordinate the medical screening for all Academy Players U9 to U21. To construct injury profiles on all full-time Academy Players and actively implement injury prevention strategies in the form of IDP work. To effectively communicate all RTTP with key stakeholders. To be involved in the organisation and conduction of “in service medical training for academy coaching and / or medical staff. To prioritise and delegate appropriate caseload to the Academy medical staff, providing appropriate supervision as required. To consult with the Head of Medical 1st team, Doctor, Academy Physiotherapists, concerning all medical / health related matters. Manage and lead the medical staff. Including the completion of staff performance / development reviews and the setting of KPIs. Contribute to the multi-disciplinary support of players in line with Individual Learning Plans. Manage and oversee all medical record keeping for Academy squads including HOD Audit responsibilities. Set up a review of significant event analysis for procedures / EAPs. Set up & audit Emergency action plans for all training and match venues. Set up a process of collecting objective data that will assist the rehabilitation process for all scholars across phases. Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience Degree in Physiotherapy / Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP) Member of the Health Professions Council (HPC) Documented evidence of CPD Good understanding of sporting injuries and how common sports injuries are avoided. Strong decision-making skills and committed to exacting standards. Understanding of current clinical guidelines and relevant legislation Knowledge of the Data Protection Act Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to use a variety of communication tools (verbal, written, digital) Strong organisational and administrative skills IT skills to include the ability to use performance analysis software and Microsoft office Previous post graduate experience in professional sport Previous people management or supervisory experience Previous experience of operating in a decision-making capacity within a clinical setting Recent and relevant professional experience in a sports performance environment, including managerial experience in a sports science environment is essential as the post holder will be responsible for the development, organisation and implementation of the treatment and rehabilitation programmes for the academy staff BSc (Hons) / MSc Physiotherapy Qualification ATMMiF (or equivalent) Certification HCPC and CSP registration Experience working with elite, youth athletes Strong clinical skills in MSK injury management and rehabilitation. Excellent communicator, collaborator and demonstrable experience of working within an MDT. Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced, competitive setting.
