Job Description The Aerospace Electrical and Avionics Degree Apprenticeship is designed for those interested in the practical and theoretical aspects of supporting a fleet of helicopters, maintaining aircraft airworthiness, and performing performance analysis. Over five years you will experience multiple placements across the Engineering department, culminating in a final placement area based on your demonstrated skills. You will start with an induction into Leonardo, followed by a Yeovil College induction to establish apprenticeship requirements. Your time will be divided between Yeovil College and work placements at Leonardo Helicopters, with increased work placements as you progress. Possible placement areas include Structural Design, Rotor Design, Transmission Design, Materials Laboratory, Structural Mechanical Test and Evaluation, Electrical Design, Avionics, Power Generation Systems, Electro‑magnetic Environmental Effects, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering. Responsibilities Grow knowledge of the engineering business. Develop practical engineering skills and understand key processes and technologies. Support early career activities, such as working as a STEM ambassador in schools, colleges and universities. Qualifications 96 UCAS points (or 240 pre‑2017) at A‑Level or equivalent, including Mathematics and at least one STEM subject. 5 GCSE grades 4–9 (equivalent) with mandatory English, Maths and Science plus two additional subjects. Security Clearance This role is subject to pre‑employment screening under the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS).
