Jami is looking for a compassionate and organised Compeer and Hospital Visiting Officer to join our Social Engagement Service. This vital role supports two key programmes – Compeer Befriending and Hospital Visiting – helping people affected by mental health challenges to feel less isolated and more connected to their community. As part of a supportive and values-driven team, you’ll help match, guide and support volunteers and clients, building positive and trusting relationships. You’ll also play a key role in coordinating visits to Jewish patients in hospitals, offering companionship and acting as a bridge between patients, volunteers, and Chaplaincy services.About UsJami is here for when mental illness and distress make everyday life a struggle. With the combined expertise of Jewish Care and Jami, we can support even more people in their journey to better mental health, providing treatment, support and education to young people, adults, families and community leaders in the Jewish Community.Your RoleProactively support and monitor Compeer befriending matches, ensuring regular contact and recording interactions accurately. Liaise with volunteers, patients, and Chaplaincy Departments to facilitate hospital visits. Carry out assessments and refer clients to appropriate services where needed. Support recruitment, training, and supervision of Compeer and Hospital Visiting volunteers. Raise safeguarding or welfare concerns as appropriate, following Jami’s policies and procedures. Maintain accurate and confidential records using Jami’s database systems. Promote the Compeer and Hospital Visiting services across Jami, Jewish Care, and local community partners. Build strong working relationships with local charities, faith partners, and community groups.About YouExperience working in a service delivery or support environment. Experience supporting or managing volunteers. Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and risk management. Strong communication, organisational, and IT skills.
