OverviewOccupational Therapy Technical Instructor at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The closing date is 23 September 2025.We are seeking to recruit a competent and enthusiastic Technical Instructor to join our friendly, well-established Occupational Therapy Service based within Carepoint (hospital discharge team) at North Tyneside General Hospital. You will work closely with the Occupational Therapists, carrying out assessments and treatment sessions for hospital patients (that have initially been screened by the therapist), e.g. kitchen/washing and dressing assessments, to deliver/fit equipment in patients homes, as well as assisting with the supporting the pre-assessment screening of elective orthopaedic surgery patients. You may also be required to support in the delivery of rehabilitation of patients in local rehabilitation units.7 Day working shifts covering an 8-8 service.Main duties of the jobThe ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience;NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care or above/equivalent or the willingness to complete within 12 months of employment or equivalent experience/and or qualifications.Education to GCSE or equivalent.A basic understanding of the philosophy of OT and its various core skills.An understanding of relevant legislative procedures within the OT department,Including Health and Safety at work and Moving and Handling.Ability to work independently or jointly with another member of staff.About usWe manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. High quality patient care is at the heart of everything we do and we strive to ensure every single patient and service user has an exceptional experience with us.We have one of the most extensive patient experience programmes of any trust in England.Job responsibilitiesUnder the supervision of a registered Occupational Therapist (OT) the post holder will be expected to:Assist with providing a comprehensive occupational therapy service including pre-assessment of elective orthopaedic patients.Carryout assessments and other tasks that have initially been screened by the therapist.
