About The Role This is a fixed‑term post until 31 March 2027, working full‑time. SeRP is recruiting a Research Software Engineer within the Research Data Science team to create innovative ICT systems and solutions to meet the needs of the research community. Working on world‑leading research projects across the UK and internationally, the post holder will undertake computing work at the cutting‑edge of Data Science and develop cutting‑edge solutions to meet the changing requirements of researchers, including in the emerging field of secure data federation. The role utilises hardware and software skills, including Python, Kubernetes, GitOps, DevOps, network and hardware installations and monitoring, infrastructure development and database management. It represents an excellent and exciting post for recent graduates or established IT professionals looking to build their reputation and careers. Key responsibilities include: Develop and maintain Python‑based services and pipelines. Manage Kubernetes clusters and related infrastructure. Implement GitOps workflows and DevOps practices. Install and monitor network and hardware components. Develop and maintain databases and storage solutions. Collaborate proactively with technical subject experts to plan and deliver services. Apply innovative solutions to complex IT‑related problems. Use Scrum or other agile methodologies to deliver work.
