Overview1:1 SEN Teaching AssistantLocation: BirminghamDuration: Full-Time, OngoingSalary: £80 – £95 per day (depending on experience)The School/RoleWe are recruiting for a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist SEN school in Birmingham. This role is central to supporting a pupil with additional needs on a one-to-one basis, helping them engage with learning, manage their emotions, and develop independence. You will work closely with teachers and the wider school team to provide consistent support and encouragement tailored to the child’s needs.Key Duties1:1 Support: Provide personalised assistance to a pupil with SEN, ensuring their learning and wellbeing needs are met.Classroom Assistance: Help the teacher deliver lessons and adapt resources to suit the pupil’s needs.Emotional & Behavioural Support: Encourage positive behaviour and use strategies to support self-regulation.Progress Monitoring: Track and report on the pupil’s progress and achievements to teaching staff.Inclusive Practice: Promote independence, confidence, and inclusion within the classroom and school community.What We OfferSupportive School Community: Work within a caring team dedicated to helping pupils with SEN succeed.Professional Development: Opportunities to grow your skills and gain further training.Ongoing Role: Long-term placement with potential for permanent employment.Competitive Pay: Daily rate with holiday pay and pension contributions.RequirementsPrevious experience working with children (school or SEN setting preferred)Understanding of SEN, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, or other additional needsPatience, resilience, and the ability to build strong relationshipsGood communication skills and ability to follow guidance from teachersCommitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of childrenDesirableEnhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)Relevant SEN training (e.g., Team Teach, Autism Awareness)Experience working 1:1 with children in a school settingValid photo ID (Driving Licence or Passport)Recent work-based referencesInterested?Contact Haleemah at Balfor Education on 0121 260 0000 or email your CV to haleemah@balfor.co.uk.
