ABC Teachers is looking for a skilled 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN School in Birmingham on a full-time basis. About the role Deliver 1:1 support and learning sessions to students with autism and complex needs, helping them achieve progress in a way that suits their pace and style. Work confidently with students presenting a range of needs, including anxiety, trauma, ADHD, autism, or behavioural challenges. Provide calm, consistent support to pupils with autism and other complex needs, helping to create a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment. Model respectful, inclusive behaviour and contribute to a classroom culture where every student feels valued, heard, and respected. Full-time position available immediately, with the potential for a long-term role for the right candidate. About the school Provides specialist education for autistic children and young people aged 11 to 19. Maintains a positive and vibrant school culture, with a strong sense of community at its core. Offers a creative, ambitious, and broad curriculum that nurtures students’ strengths and interests, promotes independence, and supports pathways to future employment. Encourages spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development by helping pupils reflect on their experiences, understand the impact of their actions, and engage with new opportunities. Based in North Birmingham, with the position available for an immediate start. Requirements To be considered for the role of 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant you will: Have previous experience working with children and young people with a range of special educational needs, such as learning difficulties, autism, and sensory needs.Suitable qualifications such as Youth Work, Health and Social Care or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools are desired but not essential.Have strong communications skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with students.Able to obtain suitable references and a DBS check. Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: At least two years of experience supporting students with special educational needs.
