Job Overview As our Commercial Buyer you will be part of a Team of three. Reporting to and working very closely with the Commercial Director. This role is ideal for someone who thrives from being "in the detail" of everything. You'll need to be an expert in excel, running reports, using pivot tables and analysing large data sets. A strong proficiency across the full suite of Microsoft 365 products is critical for this role. A typical day might include supporting with supplier meetings, or where confident too, lead on certain accounts. You'll enjoy doing the pre-work, conducting research, understanding commercial terms and coming armed with questions and negotiation points. Research will include spend trends and supplier performance by speaking with internal colleagues across the Hayley Branches. Your love of data will shine through in analysing rebate clauses and terms and you'll take a huge amount of pride and satisfaction in creating demonstratable savings for the business. We are happy to offer training for this role for the right candidate with the core skills to succeed. Responsibilities Compile research and help create negotiation strategies in order close deals with the best terms. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including sales, engineering, procurement, and finance, to gather necessary information and develop comprehensive and competitive proposals. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, to gather necessary inputs, resolve queries, and ensure smooth collaboration throughout the bidding process. Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and market developments, identifying potential opportunities for business growth and improvement in bidding strategies. Conduct post‑bid analysis to evaluate the success of proposals and identify areas for improvement, implementing lessons learned in future bid submissions. Recruitment Process Initial Screening – Ongoing throughout advertising window. Online Testing – TBC. Teams / Video Interview with our Talent Acquisition Partner. Face to face final stage interview. Interviews will be held at our Oldbury Offices. Candidates selected for final stage interview will be asked to prepare for an interview focused on skills, knowledge, experience and motivations. Qualifications Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an analytical mindset. Exceptional organisational and project management abilities, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to handle multiple priorities. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite. Strong strategic acumen to understand pricing strategies. A degree is not a pre‑requisite for this role. Passion and commitment are.
