CAMHS/MHST practitioners

The three core functions of a Mental Health Support Team (MHST) are: Delivering evidence-based interventions for children and young people (CYP) with mild-to-moderate mental health problems. Supporting the senior mental health lead in each education setting to introduce, develop and deliver the whole school/college approach. Giving timely advice to school and college staff, and liaising with external specialist services, to help CYP to get the right support and stay in education. The role involves delivering all three MHST functions. The role involves providing clinical supervision and line management to practitioners within the team, holding a small caseload of clinical work (based on the postholder's training and interests), acting as a senior link supporting school leads to develop their whole school approach to wellbeing, project work, other tasks as/when required. You would be joining a comprehensive and dynamic CAMH service, delivering a substantial stepped model of care following the needs‑led i‑Thrive framework. There are a number of posts either within newly formed or established Mental health Support Teams across Luton and Central Bedfordshire. Your role will help to develop and deliver a wide range of interventions, projects and system changes with the aim of the whole school and whole community approaches to supporting young people's mental health. In addition to providing comprehensive consultation, assessment, risk management and interventions for young people experiencing emotional and mental health difficulties in schools, the post‑holder will also clinically supervise colleagues. There may be an option of supervisor training at Reading University which we would strongly encourage post‑holders to take up. Making Things Better Quality Improvement is a key part of our work to improve our services and refine how we do things. We have a global reputation for our quality improvement work and we don’t stand still So we offer a fantastic opportunity for our staff to learn, lead and contribute towards improving our services.
