Job Description The Service & Team: The Communication Support Team is a friendly and supportive team of Speech and Language Therapists (SALT), Teachers and Speech and Language Therapy Assistants (SALTAs). The team is part of the wider SEND Support Services. We work closely with our colleagues to provide training and development around broader SEND policies and procedures, e.g., Graduated Response and EHC Needs Assessments. We have strong working relationships with our SALT colleagues within the NHS and with staff in educational settings across Cornwall. We value learning and continuous professional development and access a wide variety of training nationally and locally. The Role The role holder will work as a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist across school and settings in Cornwall. They will focus on developing support for children and young people with Speech, Language and Communication Needs. This may include delivering whole-setting accessible training, peer support, identifying inclusive strategies, and advising on how to implement these. The role involves close collaboration with the team and the NHS, undertaking specialist assessments and liaison with the Statutory SEN team, producing high-quality written reports, and participating in peer reviews for quality assurance. The holder will manage their own diary, working independently with children and young people at the heart of everything they do. This is a public/customer-facing role, subject to the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers and an enhanced criminal record disclosure check. Working Pattern 37 hours Monday to Friday (if you are interested in different working hours, please contact Mandy Tomkins to discuss this).
