Role focus As part of this, we are looking for a number of people with a strong background in Mechanical Design Engineering to support the following areas: Nuclear primary components including the reactor core Secondary propulsion components In-service support and maintenance Special purpose tools and equipment Future product What we offer We offer excellent development opportunities, a competitive salary and exceptional benefits. What you will be doing You will be responsible for the creation of component / assembly / systems designs and associated through-life justification that meet their requirements and product attributes of life cost, availability and safety margins. Additionally you will Create solutions and justifications that are robust against variation taking account the full life cycle (concept design, manufacture, operation and disposal). Integrate cross-discipline engineering concepts including manufacturing engineering, simulation, materials testing and supply chain. Document and verify information against sound mechanical engineering practices and references. Present evidence at technical reviews in front of peers and expert panels. Publish safety and technical reports which are subjected to customer and regulatory scrutiny. Ideally you will have experience in one of the above disciplines but this does not need to be limited to Submarines. It is preferable that you are Degree Qualified or Apprentice Trained in a relevant engineering discipline; however this is not essential as experience is equally beneficial.
