Machine Shop Technician

Machine Shop Technician – Chess Dynamics Join to apply for the Machine Shop Technician role at Chess Dynamics. Role Purpose Reporting to the Machine-shop Supervisor and working closely with the Production Planning and Purchasing Departments, the machine shop technician will create programs for CNC machines using 3D CAD models or data from technical drawings. Setting up and running CNC machines and ensuring they operate at full capacity, producing high quality components on schedule. Key Responsibilities Planning the most efficient order for machining operations on each job. Checking that work meets quality and technical standards. Maintaining equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements. Ensuring all CNC programs are fully backed up for future repeat orders. Communicating effectively with the Engineering team to capture all design changes during manufacture. Adhering to the company's procedures, policies and goals. Ensuring all health and safety regulations and guidelines are followed. Ensuring that all procedures are followed as specified in the Quality Manual. Ensuring that all documentation related to your work is kept accurate and up to date in accordance with BS EN9001. Assisting in maintaining the office and workshop in a clean and orderly state and ensuring good project housekeeping. Working in a conscientious and safe manner at all times, with due consideration of other personnel. Answering all telephones and e-mails as and when necessary in a polite and courteous manner. Essential Skills & Experience Qualified to a recognised standard with a minimum of 3 years’ practical experience on CNC mills. Experience working to high tolerances in a pressured environment. Working from 2D CAD drawings, ideally with 3D CadCam experience (training can be given). Confidence in measuring your own and others’ work. Flexible and conscientious approach. Team player and understanding of company values. Able to work without supervision. Desirable Skills & Experience Experience using manual lathe and mills. An understanding of CadCam programming.
