Electrical Construction Fitter – Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks Base Location: Slough, Swindon, Oxford, Melksham, Yeovil, Andover, Poole, New Forest, Portsmouth, Petersfield, Aldershot, West London or Reading Salary: £34,749 – £40,939 plus benefits Overtime & travel time available. 37 hour working week. Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time Overview We are an in‑house Electrical Construction Team seeking Low Voltage or High Voltage Electrical Construction Fitters to join our Southern England operations. You will be responsible for constructing electrical apparatus within substations (11kV–132kV) on the electricity distribution network. Safety is our top priority and a collaborative working environment is essential. Responsibilities Deliver High Voltage construction projects in live substation environments in line with operational safety rules and legislation. Install and commission new CT metering apparatus. Operate Telehandlers, Mewps and construct mobile scaffolds (full training provided). Participate in personal development planning with guidance from your line manager. Qualifications & Experience Knowledge and experience in installing electrical systems, containment, cabling, plant and small wiring. High regard for safety, understanding of CDM regulations and strong communication skills. A full, clean UK driving licence. Flexible approach to working hours and locations, with extensive travel across the network. Preferred (but not essential) Knowledge of the electricity distribution network and experience working in live substation environments (11kV‑132kV). Experience with DC battery systems, internal panel wiring, multicore cable termination, glanding, circuit breaker wiring, CT/VT marshalling kiosks, control panels, AC/DC wiring and 33kV outdoor circuit breaker/isolator replacement. Operation authorisations on the network and qualifications in scaffold, telehandler, furzeweld, working at heights, confined space, asbestos, COSHH, Loler and SMSTS.
