Head of Pensions Investment & Funding Job Summary Lead our Pensions Investment & Funding Team to shape the future of our defined benefit and defined contribution schemes. Accountable to the Group Pensions Director and the Trustee for day‑to‑day oversight of investment and funding arrangements across the Group’s pension schemes. Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities Maintain relationships with the Trustee, advisers, fund managers, regulators and the Company. Manage £35bn of assets and liabilities within delegated authorities set by the Trustee. Support the Trustee in strategic objectives and risk tolerance related to funding, investment and covenant to ensure scheme health. Work closely with Chairs of the Investment and Funding Committee, Investment Oversight Committee and Trustee’s strategic investment advisor to deliver investment and funding strategies. Provide analysis and challenge to develop, review and change suitable investment strategies, hedging key risks, and asset class balance. Manage the portfolio, maintaining hedges, return potential, and de‑risk opportunities. Set mandates, monitor managers, hold managers to account, and challenge portfolio matters. Maintain liquidity, manage cash calls and settlements. Ensure robust internal control environment and identify emerging risks. Support funding discussions with the Group, ensuring outcomes align with risk and funding targets. Deliver regular performance, risk and information reports to the Trustee. Develop and maintain responsible investment and climate risk policies. Lead and motivate a specialist investment team, ensuring culture and resources match evolving Trustee requirements. Stay abreast of market developments. What You’ll Need Senior leader with success in a large organisation, ideally a major pension fund or senior investment role. Exceptional stakeholder management, able to manage politically sensitive relationships. Proven experience navigating complex pension funding and investment concepts, deep knowledge of assets, liabilities and hedging. Inspiring people leader and respected strategic thinker.
