We are inviting applications for two Clinical Teaching Fellow posts within our undergraduate teaching team based on the doorstep of the magnificent Lake District. The undergraduate team at Cumberland Infirmary is responsible for delivering teaching to around one hundred students spanning years one through to five of the Newcastle University MBBS course. The posts will commence August 2026 for a fixed term of 12 months, with a possible option to extend for another 12 months. Main duties Teaching is a major component of the role, with time divided between undergraduate education and a specialty area negotiated at commencement. Overall, eight half‑day sessions per week will be allocated to teaching or preparation, and two sessions to the postholder’s chosen specialty. Co‑ordinate and deliver the Newcastle Undergraduate Medical Education Programme together with other members of the Undergraduate Team. Assist in recruitment and coordination of patients for teaching sessions and participate in teaching medical students across all years of the MBBS course. Qualifications Current Full Registration with the General Medical Council. Evidence of completion of the UK Foundation Programme. Desirable Teach the Teachers Course. PG Cert MedEd or equivalent. Experience in teaching. Experience At least 2 years of UK postgraduate clinical experience. Experience of recent direct patient care. Experience of recent working in the NHS. Communication Skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Personality and Disposition Ability to work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team. Ability to organise workload efficiently and be self‑directed. Enthusiastic, problem‑solving approach to tasks and pride in delivering high‑quality service.
