Adult Psychotherapist Inpatient Psychology Service

Job Summary The role is based at the Derwent Centre in Harlow, which comprises two acute inpatient wards (male and female). It is a 0.4 WTE position delivering specialist Arts Psychotherapy interventions for adults admitted to hospital in acute mental health crisis. The post holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team and provide consultation to colleagues. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver individual and group Arts Psychotherapy interventions for service users. Assess service users in terms of presenting needs and suitability for arts psychotherapy as part of a comprehensive MDT assessment, formulation and treatment planning including risk management. Contribute to and lead aspects of service development, audit and research, including evaluating the effectiveness of interventions. Train and supervise other staff and support Art Psychotherapy trainees in clinical placements. Maintain clinical administration of caseload, including notes, outcome measures and communication with all involved colleagues. Support colleagues with supervision, learning opportunities and reflective practice, and help develop and manage clinical data and outcome measure processes. Build links with community services to ease transition of service users in and out of hospital. Demonstrate client-focused practice, trauma-informed care and psychotherapeutic thinking in all clinical interactions. Qualifications and Experience Qualified Arts Psychotherapist (art, music, movement or drama) and registered with the HCPC (UKCP for DMPs). Experience working with a range of presenting needs in an acute inpatient setting. Understanding of trauma-informed care and ability to integrate it into therapeutic practice. Previous experience of service development, audit or research in a mental health context is desirable. Willingness to undertake ongoing professional development and build links with universities and professional bodies.
