OverviewWe have an exciting opportunity for a senior mental health practitioner to join the CAMHS Emotional Wellbeing Service in Kirklees, a service for looked after children and care leavers. The service is provided by an integrated team of social care and CAMHS practitioners, using the 6 Ps formulation practice model, providing specialist assessment and consultation to the network around the young person in care, including foster carers and residential practitioners within local authority childrens homes. Trauma informed, evidence-based interventions are provided to support the mental health and wellbeing needs of children and young people. Hours of work are 9-5, Monday to Friday. All employees are strongly encouraged to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to protect patients.The team currently consists of psychologists, senior social work practitioners, student counsellors and team managers. This is a new role within the team to better meet the needs of children and young people in care. Applications are welcome from registered mental health practitioners (NMC/HCPC) and registered social workers (SWE).ResponsibilitiesTo work collaboratively with practitioners and care providers, offering advice, formulation and consultation to improve outcomes for looked after children, their carers and families.To hold a caseload of children and young people with complex needs, undertake assessment and formulation, develop care plans and provide effective interventions.To contribute to service development, including the development of the therapeutic model across fostering and residential children’s homes.To develop and facilitate training for carers and professionals.Supervision and professional support are provided, with opportunities for professional development and training.To provide highly specialist skills and expertise in CAMHS, including emergency assessments and intensive interventions with children, young people and families.To work autonomously and as part of the MDT, providing consultation and teaching to other agencies/professionals; deputise as agreed for the team leader as required.To promote safeguarding and the welfare of children and young people.To liaise with external agencies (Education, Social Services, Paediatric Services) and actively promote user/carer involvement in care planning and delivery.Qualifications and RequirementsEssential: Relevant professional qualification (e.g., nursing or allied health profession) and post-qualification training in identified portfolio (e.g., LD, LAC, eating disorders) or a Dip SW or equivalent in mental health; current UK registration; good IT and documentation skills; driving licence and access to a car (or reasonable adjustments).Desirable: Post graduate qualification in mental health (e.g., CBT, Family Therapy, Counselling); Masters; formal management/supervisory qualification.Experience of delivering training to others; substantial post-qualification experience with children, young people and their carers in mental health or complex care settings; inter-agency liaison; safeguarding expertise; advanced clinical/therapeutic knowledge; risk assessment and evidence-based practice.Experience of working with diverse cultural contexts and in community settings is preferred.Other InformationContract: Permanent; Band 7; Full-time; Agenda for ChangeSalary: £47,810 to £54,710 per yearLocation: Folly Hall Mills, St Thomas Road, Huddersfield, HD1 3LTDisclosures: This post requires Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and current UK professional registration.
