Our mission At Vertical Aerospace, we are pioneering the way for electric aviation. The VX4, our eVTOL (electric, vertical, take-off and landing), ‘zero emissions’ aircraft will set a new safety standard for how we will navigate the sky. We won’t realise our mission following the same legacy processes and traditions our predecessors followed, instead, we want to ‘redefine’ aerospace best practices. We are growing quickly from a prototype business to a scaling SME, and the next few years will be critical to our success and delivering on our ambitious goals of having the VX4 in service by 2030. What to expect As a Digital Manufacturing Engineer; you will play a key role in shaping our large-scale production plans for the VX4 aircraft. Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing digital manufacturing processes to streamline efficiency and innovation. You will be accountable for establishing and delivering cutting‑edge digital manufacturing workflows for both aircraft and battery manufacturing engineering, ensuring seamless integration and optimization across the function. What you'll do Establish the digital manufacturing systems essential for battery and aircraft production. Implement digital systems within the manufacturing engineering team, defining processes and providing training on their usage, including the creation of Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM), Bills of Process (BOP), Bills of Equipment (BOE), and Work Instructions (WI). Develop and optimize digital production line layouts to support critical decisions on equipment procurement. Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering and Production teams across aircraft and battery divisions to ensure the effective adoption and utilization of digital systems. Work closely with cross‑functional teams, including design, manufacturing, quality, procurement, and service, to integrate and implement all necessary requirements within the system. Ensure compliance with industry regulations, standards, and certifications related to battery manufacturing and aerospace quality management. Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and performance enhancement, driving continuous improvement initiatives. Lead the definition of process and work instructions within digital systems, from concept development through production start. Leverage a strong background in high‑volume final assembly and lean manufacturing principles, with relevant expertise in new product introduction (NPI). Utilize manufacturing systems to efficiently design processes and support high‑rate production, including ERP, MRP, and MES tools. Train users and promote the adoption of digital systems as an integral manufacturing planning tool. Collaborate with change coordination teams to ensure that Engineering Bill of Materials (EBOM) modifications are accurately reflected in the Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM). Drive the integration of digital manufacturing systems across the entire manufacturing team, fostering widespread engagement and utilization. Work cross‑functionally with manufacturing engineers and key stakeholders to ensure seamless collaboration and optimization. What you'll bring Proficiency in 3DX(Delmia) or other digital manufacturing systems is essential. 3‑5 years+ experience in a similar field. Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related field. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Strong communication skills and fluent in English. What can you expect from us? We're on a mission. Where others see limits, we see opportunity, and we work at pace.
