Tooling Engineer - SC Cleared
Our client, a leading organisation in the defence & security sector, is currently seeking a Tooling Engineer to join their team on a contract basis in Derby. This role supports key nuclear programmes including the UK Submarine programme, the existing nuclear generation fleet, decommissioning projects, and the development of high integrity structures for new nuclear establishments.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop tooling systems to support manufacturing processes.
Collaborate with production teams to ensure tooling meets operational requirements.
Suggest modifications to improve existing tooling systems.
Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to resolve tooling issues.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations, particularly within the nuclear sector.
Job Requirements:
Degree qualified in Tooling Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience in the tooling sector, preferably within the nuclear industry or other high-integrity, safety-critical environments.
Proven experience in bespoke tooling design and development, with an understanding of mechanical tolerances, materials selection, and ergonomics.
Experience using SAP (Systems Applications and Products) packages.
Familiarity with design codes and industry standards relevant to the nuclear sector (e.g., ASME Section III).
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Experience in producing key technical documentation such as tooling design reports, manufacturing drawings, and specifications.
Proficiency in the use of NX11 & Teamcenter software.
