Job DescriptionManufacturing Engineer - ToolingFull TimeDerby/HybridWhat you will be doing An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Civil Large Engines Assembly Tooling Design Team in Derby. As a Manufacturing Engineer Tooling youll play a key role in the design and delivery of bespoke tooling solutions that support the assembly and overhaul of Rolls-Royce civil aerospace engines. These solutions span across the full product lifecyclefrom experimental demonstrators to full-rate production and aftermarket services.ResponsibilitiesThis is a dynamic and technically rewarding role that offers real scope for innovation ownership and professional growth. Youll actively contribute to our Zero Harm objectives by embedding safety into every aspect of design and implementation.Driving Quality Excellence: Apply robust Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) principles to deliver right-first-time tooling solutions. Youll champion a zero-defect mindset and support the development of best practices throughout the team.Technical Leadership & Delivery:Define technical requirements and specifications for new and modified tooling systems.Make key design decisions approve manufacturing drawings FEA/stress reports and ensure CE marking and compliance where required.Take ownership of tooling projectsfrom concept through to commissioningacross Experimental Production and Aftermarket build lines.Coordinate with customers and suppliers place tooling orders and provide ongoing technical oversight to ensure delivery to quality and timeline expectations.Support fleet issues and emergent requirements with agile tooling responses including rapid design validation and deployment.Create tooling process documentation including build sequences and user training materials and contribute to PFMEA and risk reviews.Why Rolls-RoyceWork with us and well welcome you into a culture of caring and belonging where you can be yourself. They are an essential component of our assessment process and are fundamental qualities that we seek for all roles.A degree in mechanical manufacturing or design engineering (or equivalent relevant experience).Strong CAD capability with proficiency in Siemens Nx (or willingness to learn fast).A good understanding of engine build or overhaul processes gained through hands-on experience or subsystem design/manufacturing roles.Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to apply root cause analysis to technical challenges.Strong written and verbal communication skills particularly in conveying complex technical information clearly.Working knowledge of manufacturing systems and industrialisation processes (preferred).A proactive mindset with a strong drive for personal and professional development.
