Total Salary: £861.54 per week* Accommodation: Included Duration: Summer 2026 Reports to: St Andrew’s College Senior Management Team / Area Coordinator(s) Job Overview The Centre Manager role is residential, covering all meals and accommodation. Responsibilities include ensuring the smooth running of the centre, establishing procedures, solving problems quickly, supervising students and staff, maintaining communication with senior management, and supporting the implementation of programmes. This senior management position demands a demanding workload with constant oversight of all programme aspects. Key Responsibilities Management of the centre to ensure a high‑quality programme is delivered, following guidelines. Co‑ordinating and supporting the academic and activities programmes, ensuring they are linked. Leading the centre’s Management Team and ensuring effective staff management. Maintaining professional relationships with staff, clients, and venue staff. Ensuring the safety and welfare of all employees and students. Quality assurance and ensuring customer satisfaction. Managing the Product Managing the provision of good customer service according to customer needs. Integrating teaching and activity programmes successfully. Co‑ordinating the day‑to‑day running of the centre. Maintaining high levels of performance. General Responsibilities Ensuring the centre office is always functioning and secure. Monitoring premises, equipment and resources throughout the course. Greeting each group or individual on arrival, ensuring all passengers are accounted for. Leading student induction talks, assisting in accommodation allocation, and participating at Certificate Ceremonies. Overseeing packed meals, staffing and special arrangements at the centre. Managing student discipline in residences and liaising with Group Leaders. Monitoring attendance and punctuality. Operating the office safe and storing group passports, deposits, and monies. Controlling expenditure, managing cash floats and maintaining accurate accounts. Providing daily reports to the Operations Manager (or General Manager/Managing Director). Being contactable after 6:00 pm for campus incidents. Finalising accounts and writing end‑of‑centre reports within five days. Closing the centre and returning all stock and unspent money per guidelines. Staff Management Leading and participating in the Staff Induction Day (usually 2–3 days before student arrival). Establishing clear lines of management and effective procedures with the Management Team. Maintaining open communication with clients and the SAC Management Team. Creating a positive team atmosphere and motivating staff. Supervising Activities and Excursions Manager(s), Welfare Coordinator and Activity Leaders. Overseeing transfers for students and staff. Ensuring timely departure transfers and checking travel information. Keeping a daily log of issues, incidents and actions. Meeting each student’s cultural, religious and dietary needs. Organising excursions, liaising with transport providers and ensuring safety. Co‑ordinating academic programme and liaising daily with the Director of Studies. Ensuring academic and non‑academic teams work together. Carrying out meal supervision duties and organising duty rosters. Maintaining staff working‑hour records. Welfare (Including Accommodation) Understanding the St Andrew’s College Language Schools manual and policies for welfare and protection of children. Implementing and monitoring Health & Safety policies. Ensuring compliance with British Council and English UK guidelines. Ensuring all documentation is correct and paperwork is submitted on time. Helping students adjust to UK life and understand safety and legal information. Issuing ID cards on arrival. Monitoring student and staff safety and welfare. Recording staff appraisals. Managing feedback questionnaires and taking action. Planning and allocating accommodation, and conducting pre‑arrival and departure checks. Ensuring sufficient supervision staff at all residences. Managing Health and Safety in accommodation buildings and performing fire warden duties. Keeping accurate rooming lists and conducting regular fire drills. Co‑ordinating housekeeping and maintenance with accommodation staff. Client/Group Leader Relations Ensuring group leaders and students understand their duties and sign relevant documents. Conducting Group Leader Meetings on arrival to outline responsibilities. Liaising with the site representative and maintaining partnerships. Maintaining daily contact with Group Leaders and being available between 9:00–12:30 pm and 2:30–6:00 pm, Monday–Friday. Additional Duties Additional duties as required. Qualifications and Requirements Ability to organise and manage own work. Effective communication skills. Adaptability and flexibility. Initiative and willingness to take on extra tasks. Enjoyment of working with children and teenagers from different cultures. Ability to address large groups of young people. Good problem‑solving skills. Pass disclosure checks (Scotland/DBS/background). *Reference: * (include note about PVG etc.) Maintain a smart personal appearance. Experience working with children, summer school, activity leading. Ability to maintain long periods of physical activity. Desirable Requirements Management experience in a summer school. Managing multiple roles. Understanding of the ELT sector. Safeguarding training. Disclosure Checks To work with St Andrew’s College Language Schools in the UK, you must provide a Disclosure (PVG from Disclosure Scotland or ‘Enhanced’ from DBS) dated within three months from the start date of employment in 2026. The check is payable by the employee (£18 to £67.50) and will be deducted from your salary. To work in the US and Ireland, a relevant Police Check is required, payable by the employee.
