Overview An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Paediatric Physiotherapist to join the Community Paediatric Therapy Team based in Peterborough. We are looking for someone who is highly motivated, enthusiastic and can work independently or as part of a team. You will be joining a well-established multi-disciplinary service. In this role you will be encouraged to develop your clinical and teaching skills as well as your personal leadership skills. You will be part of a dynamic and committed team, delivering high quality services to children and young people in Peterborough with neuro developmental physical disability. You will be working with children aged 0-19 years in a variety of community settings including educational establishments. The successful candidate will be required to manage an independent caseload of children with varying levels of neurological disability. They must be able to work flexibly in various locations/settings within and around the Peterborough area. You will be offered regular supervision, protected CPD time, opportunities to contribute towards service development and other support to grow your clinical and leadership skills. To provide a high standard, cost-effective specialised physiotherapy service for children and young people presenting with general developmental delay, disorder of movement or neuro-physical disability in the community of Peterborough. To work with other team members to co-ordinate and develop the physiotherapy service. Please note for this role you will be required to travel independently around the county meeting strict time deadlines. You will need to hold a full UK driving licence* and have use of a vehicle. You cannot use public transport for this role as this is not a reliable form of transport and will not allow you to meet service needs. Responsibilities To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your own work, including the management of patients in your care. To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner. To undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients including those with diverse or complex presentations considering their functioning in family, educational setting and other environments; using advanced clinical reasoning skills and advanced communication skills. To support parents/carers in developing skills to deliver intervention/therapy programmes and ensure their competence when the child or young person requires support. To work effectively and collaboratively in multi-disciplinary clinics e.g. spasticity management, orthotics, neuro-physical disability, joint neuro-orthopaedics, annual review clinics to support the needs of the child or young person and their families and agree joint goals/plans for intervention. The post holder will be required to use a range of verbal and non-verbal communication tools to communicate effectively with service users and their carers. This may include working with children/young people who may have difficulties in understanding and/or communicating. To be familiar and competent in assessing, setting up and monitoring postural care equipment including sleep systems, standing frames and orthotics.
