Job Summary We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Consultant Psychiatrist with experience in forensic psychiatry to work within the low secure male mental illness acute assessment and treatment ward. This is a new post following a restructure, and the provision of dedicated ward based consultants. This is a 0.8 WTE post with a clinical to professional activity ratio of 6:2. Additional PAs may be attracted via the medical directorate. Responsibilities Provide access assessments and RC responsibilities for up to 12 male inpatients detained on restricted and unrestricted sections of the MHA. Provide risk assessment and management advice for colleagues in acute services. Frequency about 2 per month. Deliver high quality efficient and effective care for service users in a trauma informed collaborative way. Teach, train and supervise junior medical staff and other professionals. Provide excellent clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team. Comply with GMC and Royal College of Psychiatrists requirements. Join the Trust general adult on‑call rota and be third on‑call. Qualifications MBBS. Full registration with the General Medical Council with a licence to practice. CCT or CESR in Forensic or WAA psychiatry (or inclusion on the GMC specialist register anticipated within the next 6 months). Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent. Approved under Section 12 (2). Approved Clinician status (anticipated within the next 3 months). Current UK professional registration. Skills and Experience Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Evidence of being a team player. Actively engaged in audit and quality improvement. Benefits 27-33 days annual leave.
