Overview The UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) is leading the development of fusion energy. The Graduate R&D Engineer will work within project teams to develop and test new technologies, gaining hands‑on experience with fusion‑relevant systems. Responsibilities Develop knowledge of fusion relevant technical topics and apply learning to assigned projects. Deliver small‑scale test rig projects, liaising with customers, technicians and workshops/manufacturers. Support development of new test rigs and facilities for technology development and component testing in representative extreme environments. Perform a variety of technical tasks to gain experience with staff, methods, practices and programs of the Group and wider Division. Contribute to efficient test programme design and assist with the analysis of results. Qualifications Degree in Science or Engineering, expected completion 2025 or 2026. Confident in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Strong learning appetite and willingness to tackle new challenges. Excellent collaboration and communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to non‑technical audiences. Well‑organised, adaptable, able to plan and prioritise workload. Benefits £35,227 base salary. Final salary defined benefit scheme with 21.5% employer pension contribution. 25 days annual leave, plus 3 days Christmas closure and 2.5 privilege days, plus UK bank holidays.
