Animal Care and Equine Lecturer - (28 hours p/w) Application deadline: 8 December 2025 Department: Animal Care and Equine Location: Middleton Compensation: £28,021 - £36,751 per annum (≈£35,027 - £45,939 pro rata per annum) The college is seeking an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic part‑time Animal Care and Equine lecturer to join the well‑established Equine team. The ideal candidate should be a qualified lecturer with experience of delivering City and Guilds Technical Level 2 and 3 in both Animal and Equine Management. The candidate should also have experience of working in an equine‑related industry, strong links with employers, and be qualified to BHS Stage 2. Experience teaching the riding elements of the equine curriculum is essential. This mixed role covers Animal and Equine technicals and T‑Levels up to Level 3, providing a thrilling opportunity to contribute to a growing, innovative and high‑performing curriculum area. Key Responsibilities Teach a wide range of full and part‑time courses in line with college and curriculum specifications. Contribute to curriculum planning, monitoring and evaluation. Prepare and mark assessments across the timetabled programmes. Promote and participate in Basic / Key Skills delivery. Improve student attendance, punctuality, retention and achievement. Produce full, considered, timely reports and references on students. Participate in student interviews, enrolment and induction, open days and other liaison activities. Work cooperatively within a team and attend all team meetings. Participate in the college’s ILT strategy, including upkeep of the section’s intranet site. Adopt all curriculum initiatives adopted by the curriculum area. Maintain comprehensive, up‑to‑date knowledge of specialist areas. Maintain current and appropriate resources for all taught units, including Schemes of Work, Lesson Plans and suitable materials ensuring differentiated learning opportunities. Contribute to the total learning experience of students within the curriculum area. Ensure the application of Inclusive Learning in all areas of activity. Continuously develop and improve professional knowledge. Any other duties of a similar level of responsibility as may be required. Qualifications Essential Criteria Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one. Desirable Criteria Degree and/or relevant professional qualification (e.g. HNC/D). Experience Essential Criteria Experience teaching within the subject area. Practical/industrial experience within the vocational area. Specialist Knowledge Essential Criteria Comprehensive knowledge of the subject area. Understanding of current educational initiatives. Creative and innovative approach to the development of teaching materials. IT Skills Essential Criteria Intermediate level of Microsoft applications, particularly Word and PowerPoint. Desirable Criteria Knowledge of software packages such as Promonitor, Goldmine and student record systems. Familiarity with using VLEs and e‑Learning packages.
