AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion. The Data Center Capacity Delivery Asia-Pacific Controls Deployment and Service (DCCD APAC CDS) team delivers and services the control systems that monitor and ensure the health of our data centers. APAC CDS’ mission is to safely provide our customers with the unmatched reliability, security, and performance that AWS is known for. APAC CDS covers three core disciplines of deployments (of control systems in new data centers), projects (of controls capital improvement works at live data center sites), and service (of control systems at live data center sites), with additional specializations in the disciplines of colocated sites, systems engineering, controls fleet, on-call support (of data center control systems in the Americas (AMER), Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), as part of a global “follow-the-sun” support arrangement), and governance. As Amazonians, we work in a competitive environment. Our customers are always beautifully, wonderfully dissatisfied. Being successful in our roles is not just about doing our jobs well, but also evolving and innovating. Change is the only constant, and applies to our customers, our roles, our team organization, our tools, and our mechanisms. To be successful in this team, you will also have: Ability to thrive at the pace and scale of Amazon Ability to work independently and manage multiple competing priorities Ability and willingness to collaborate with peers around the globe, which may involve some participation in meetings at odd hours Ability and willingness to travel domestically or globally as and when needed Key job responsibilities Configure and maintain device settings, collaborating with Controls Engineering and Software teams on sequence of operations. Ensure accurate system configuration management across sites. Deploy software updates and manage controller provisioning. Deliver timely and successful software deployments with minimal service disruptions. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for the Amazon Control System components, including mechanical, electrical, and software systems. Quickly diagnose and resolve incidents impacting system functionality and data center operations. Work cross-functionally with teams like CDS, Operations, and Software Development to ensure successful control system deployment and operation. Demonstrate strong communication and relationship-building skills. Investigate and resolve commissioning observations related to Amazon Control Systems, escalating issues as needed. Respond to commissioning observations within SLAs, prioritizing critical issues. Document processes, maintain run-books, and contribute to continuous improvements of Amazon Control Systems support practices. Enhance knowledge sharing and drive process enhancements. A day in the life Be at the forefront of mission‑critical infrastructure: As a Systems Engineer, you'll play a vital role in maintaining the reliability and scalability of Amazon's global data center operations. Your work will have a direct impact on the availability and performance of the infrastructure that powers AWS. Continuously learn and adapt: The control system platform and supporting technologies are constantly evolving. You'll have the opportunity to gain deep expertise in industrial control systems, software deployment, and cross‑functional collaboration. Your ability to learn quickly and adapt to change will be essential. Collaborate across teams and time zones: You'll work closely with a diverse array of teams, including Controls, Operations, and Software Engineering, as well as many other Amazon teams. Navigating these relationships and aligning on complex technical and operational issues will challenge you to improve your communication and problem‑solving skills. Make a visible impact: The APAC CDS team is at the forefront of Amazon's efforts to "own the stack" of data center controls systems. Your contributions to enhancing the control system platform and supporting processes will be directly visible and appreciated by the broader organization. Be part of a dynamic, talented team: You'll be part of a highly skilled, collaborative CDS team that is dedicated to delivering world‑class data center infrastructure.
