Facilities Maintenance Engineer Department: Facilities Location: Leeds Type of Contract: Permanent About Us: GBS is a higher education provider offering a range of sector‑relevant courses across ten campuses in London, Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester. Our Vision: Changing Lives through Education The Role: The Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer will maintain, install, and refurbish fabric and equipment across the GBS UK estates portfolio. Responsibilities include monitoring building condition, undertaking repairs and renovations, and assisting Estates and Facilities in refurbishment planning. The role may require travel to other GBS UK campuses and requires flexible working to accommodate business operations, covering campus operating hours from Monday to Sunday, 7:00 am to 9:30 pm with occasional out‑of‑hours work. What The Role Involves: Preventative and Reactive Maintenance Building and Equipment Maintenance Health, Safety, and Compliance Documentation and Inventory Management Refurbishment and Fit‑Out Projects Travel and Flexibility Experience and Skills Required: 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification City & Guilds Level 2 and/or Level 3 in Electrical Installations, or equivalent NVQ, or demonstrable experience to the same standard Previous experience in building maintenance including M&E systems Manual skills and knowledge of refurbishment techniques A flexible and proactive approach with a "can‑do" attitude Familiarity with COSHH requirements for equipment and chemicals Interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and as part of the facilities wider team Full, Clean Driving License What We Offer: 25 days annual leave, plus 8 public holidays 1-day extra leave per year of service, up to a maximum of 5 days Workplace pension scheme Tuition reimbursement for career development courses Flexible Benefits: Cycle to Work, Workplace Nursery, Techscheme and more Perks@Work discounts platform, wellbeing centre and more Reward and recognition programme £500 employee referral award Discretionary annual performance bonus “GBS has been a good place for professional growth.
