Job Summary East Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a dedicated stroke physician to join their high-performing Stroke MDT, providing daily consultant-led care and support to patients on the stroke unit. Contributing to clinical governance, risk management, and ensuring appropriate standards of care. Providing teaching, educational, and clinical supervision to junior medical staff. Participating in the delivery of 7-day TIA and rapid access clinics. Collaborating in the reconfiguration of unscheduled care services, including opening a HASU. Supporting sub-acute rehabilitation for stroke patients in community hospitals and settings. Sharing responsibility for acute and rehabilitation stroke wards. Participating in medical audit and postgraduate teaching. Being part of the MDT on acute and rehabilitation stroke units. Participating in acute stroke and Telestroke rotas. Providing TIA service at RBH. Ensuring ongoing clinical responsibility for patients, coordinating with colleagues within the department. Contributing to consultant cover during leave. Developing and promoting services that minimise hospital stay and promote recovery and independent living. Participating in medical audit and maintaining clinical governance. Providing professional supervision, direction, and training to junior medical staff. Engaging in postgraduate teaching activities. Attending meetings of the Directorate of Medicine for Older People, Rehabilitation, and Stroke. Participating in the Hot Consultant acute stroke rota (1 in 6 weekdays 8 am to 5.00 pm). Contributing to the Lancashire and Cumbria Telestroke rota (1 in 14). Person Specification Essential Attainments Full registration with General Medical Council Inclusion on the Specialist Register or due admission to register within six months MRCP or equivalent. CCT or within 6 months of CCT or CESR Desirable Attainments A higher degree such as MD, MSc, PhD or equivalent.
