Resident surveys consistently show Penrith City Council libraries to be one of the City’s most popular services. About the role This role is responsible for delivering high‑quality customer service across Penrith City Council library branches and overseeing circulation administration and building maintenance at the Penrith central branch. This role also coordinates volunteer activities, manages displays and exhibitions, and serves as the primary contact for library guidelines and customer concerns while supporting procedural improvements and branch upgrades. Essential criteria Relevant degree qualification with eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) or equivalent Demonstrated recent library supervisory experience Demonstrated high level problem‑solving and negotiation skills working with both staff and members of the public Exceptional oral and written communication and interpersonal skills Strong project management and administrative skills with a proven ability to manage concurrent tasks and work to deadlines Demonstrated knowledge and skills in using library systems, online databases, digital platforms and electronic resources Current Class C Driver’s Licence Salary: The salary for this position ranges from $92,765 to $107,380 per annum plus 12% superannuation and will be negotiated commensurate with the skills, qualifications and experience of the preferred applicant. You will be required to undertake employment checks which may include a Criminal History Check, Qualification Check, Working with Children Check, Medical Declaration and/or a Functional Test as relevant to the position for which you have applied. Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council for review in order to progress through the recruitment process.
